Student Advisory Council November Meeting Summary

At the third and final Student Advisory Council of the Fall 2022 semester, four topics were presented for student feedback:

  • How to Improve Course Registration Across Campuses: Student Self Service was reviewed, and suggestions were gathered for how the current process to register for classes on a campus different from a student’s home campus can be improved. Students from NVU, VTC, and CCV shared how they find courses given their institutions have multiple campuses.
  • Course Modality Names: The faculty across the institutions that will form VTSU have been working hard on developing names for all the ways students can attend courses. This list was presented to the students and insight was gained on areas were there might be confusion and areas where greater specificity is beneficial.
  • Transferring Credit from a Prior Institution/s: Students shared their experience of transferring from CCV into other VSCS institutions and areas where support could be improved.
  • The Student Portal: The student portal page for VTSU will begin to be crafted in the coming months. Students provided feedback on what they would like to see included and how to make it easier to find and access links to the resources they need.

At the end of the meeting, students expressed that one of the next topics they wanted to talk about and provide suggestions was accessibility of campuses. We look forward to addressing this topic, and others, next semester!

Be on the lookout for the next Student Advisory Council nomination form for Spring 2023. Students who are part of the council and attend at least two meetings in a semester, earn a stipend of $150.
