Dear Vermont State Colleges Community,
Members of the Vermont State Colleges Transformation team have been visiting your campuses over the last week for Town Hall meetings. These have provided the team an opportunity to share updates on the ongoing work on the vision and mission of the new unified institution, as well as the work underway by the cross-institution transformation teams and on the proposed name and coming brand identity.
First, I want to thank all of you who attended the Town Hall meetings, whether in person or by zoom, for your thoughtful, candid, and helpful feedback throughout this process. Through your questions and feedback, we have received valuable information as to the need to share more clearly WHY transformation is necessary and HOW the work of transformation is being organized. For example, given this feedback, we are considering ways to present the information on the Transformation website (https://www.vsc.edu/transformation/) more effectively and to make information about the transformation project teams, their membership and status reports, more widely available.
We have two more Town Hall meetings to go – both of which will be held tomorrow. The first is a joint virtual Town Hall for the Community College of Vermont and the Office of the Chancellor, and the second will be held at Vermont Tech-Williston. We will record one of the presentations to share in an update later this week for those who wish to revisit it or those who were unable to attend.
Second, I want to remind everyone that the Board of Trustees will be considering public feedback in advance of the decision on the name of the new unified institution on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. To sign up to speak at the Board meeting, visit www.vsc.edu/signup.
The Board meeting will be livestreamed at www.vsc.edu/live, but those wishing to share a comment with the Board must be in the Zoom meeting at www.vsc.edu/botzoom. We anticipate that there will be many people wishing to speak, so please sign up in advance.
VisionPoint Marketing presented their name recommendation to the Board of Trustees at their September 21st meeting.
Finally, I want to thank all of you for hosting members of the VSCS Transformation team on your campuses this week. It was wonderful to be back on the campuses, to see so many familiar and new faces (or at least half faces given our masks!), to tour the facilities, and to connect with so many people. We are fortunate to have so many passionate, dedicated and committed students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, and community members supporting our schools and our students.
