Increasing the Number of CCV Students Completing a VTSU Degree

This project’s purpose is to increase the number of credential-completing students in the Vermont State Colleges System. The successfully implemented program will leverage the strengths of CCV and VTSU to allow life-long learners to seamlessly and flexibly complete credentials of value that provide lateral and upward career mobility. This will necessarily require an expansion of the online courses and programs offered by CCV and VTSU. To accomplish these goals, we will:

  1. Develop a credential completion program that utilizes the resources at CCV and VTSU that will:
    • Serve life-long learners from high school through retirement age
    • allow for seamless lateral and upward credential progression
    • aligns with local and regional workforce needs
    • bridge between credit and non-credit bearing opportunities
  2. Expand the breadth of online course and program offerings to support credential completion of transfer students.
    • Ensure a high-quality, consistent, and relevant student experience rooted in online student success research and best practices
    • Ensure that NECHE, NC-SARA, and other federal requirements are met
    • Ensure compliance with the respective bargaining unit agreements

In developing this program, the team will need to identify barriers and propose solutions related to:

  • awareness of courses and credentials
  • Assessment of Prior Learning (APL)
  • cost of attainment
  • advising students throughout their educational journey
  • transfer and credential transitions
  • course and credential delivery modalities
  • non-credit to credit-bearing transitions
  • identifying and registering for courses and credentials
